Three serial house robbery suspects arrested after high-speed chase
BOSKRUIN – On Saturday, 6 December 2025, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit officers received a lookout alert for a vehicle linked to multiple house robberies in the City of Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni areas.
The suspects – three males aged between 37 and 38 years – were sought in connection with house robbery cases registered at the Florida, Roodepoort, and Edenvale South African Police Service stations.
Vumacam cameras indicated that the suspects’ vehicle, a hijacked Toyota RAV4, was travelling in the Boskruin area. JMPD officers proceeded to the location and spotted the vehicle. When officers attempted to stop the driver, the vehicle sped off, initiating a high-speed chase. The SAPS High-Speed Unit subsequently joined the pursuit, and the suspects were eventually cornered at the intersection of President Fouche and Swart Street in Boskruin.
A search of the vehicle and the suspects led to the recovery of house-breaking implements and masks. All three suspects were arrested for possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of house-breaking implements.
The trio was detained at Honeydew SAPS. During their profiling, it was discovered that they were also sought in connection with nine house robbery cases and for escaping from lawful custody in Carletonville. The hijacked vehicle was booked into the Lenasia SAPS pound for further investigation.
The JMPD Chief of Police, Commissioner Patrick Jaca, commended the team for successfully apprehending the notorious suspects who were wanted for multiple cases. He further encouraged officers to continue their hard work and dedication to ensuring the safety and security of the communities they serve.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Magistrate’s Court soon.
