Demolition of illegal structures on water pipeline servitude in Ikemeleng

RUSTENBURG – Multiple informal structures have been erected on the 300mm bulk water pipeline servitude in Ikemeleng, compromising the integrity of the pipeline. This pipeline supplies the Ikemeleng elevated steel tank, which serves the entire settlement. Unfortunately, the pipeline is leaking severely, resulting in low water pressure and reduced inflow into the tank.

MMC Phutu (DTIS), Director Ncube (DTIS), Water Services Unit, Planning Unit, Public Safety, and POP are working together to demolish these illegal structures. This demolition is a crucial step in preparing for the necessary pipe repairs. This forms part of the current City at Work program.
