Even the weaves were targeted in armed robbery at Quagga shopping centre
PRETORIA – In the early hours of Wednesday, 18 June 2025, Quagga Shopping Centre was the target of a coordinated armed robbery involving at least nine suspects.
At approximately 01:12, eight suspects breached the centre’s perimeter by breaking through the palisade fencing near the river, gaining access via the deck parking area. A ninth suspect, acting as a lookout, concealed in nearby bushes and later opened fire on responding security personnel.
At this stage, the value and nature of the stolen items remain under assessment. We are working closely with authorities to determine the full extent of the losses. A panic alarm was triggered. Security teams responded swiftly, followed by notification to the South African Police Services.
As the suspects exited the premises they encountered the armed response teams. The ninth suspect fired shots, striking a security vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
SAPS have since launched a full investigation. Surveillance footage is being reviewed and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
