Kidnapping syndicate busted, female victim rescued unharmed
GAUTENG – A multidisciplinary team involving SAPS Counter Intelligence Investigation Head Office, CAP Specialised Operations, SAPS Gauteng TRT, SAPS Anti-Gang Unit, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, DPCI Gauteng Multidisciplinary Tracking Team, SAPS Soweto RR, BadBoyz Security, and Tracker Connect executed a coordinated operation leading to the arrest of a kidnapping syndicate and the safe rescue of a female victim.
Intelligence was received indicating that a syndicate – posing as SAPS members – was planning a kidnapping using two vehicles: a Toyota Etios and a Ford Fiesta. The suspects later kidnapped a woman from her home in Soweto using the same vehicles fitted with false registration plates.
Both suspect vehicles were intercepted. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven suspects. The female victim was found and rescued unharmed. Further searches led to the recovery of two unlicensed firearms and ammunition, SAPS uniforms, insignia, bulletproof vests, and holsters.
