Carnage at taxi collision accident scene
WATERFALL – Just before 07:30am on Tuesday morning, ALS Paramedics responded to a serious head on collision on Inanda Road towards Molweni just outside of Waterfall.
Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos and carnage as they found a fully laden taxi had collided head on with a light delivery vehicle. Multiple casualties were found and immediately more Ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched together with the Ethekweni Fire Department.
Paramedics treated Sixteen patients on the scene with injuries ranging from moderate to critical. One of the critically injured casualties a female believed to be in her thirst was placed on a manual ventilator before she was flown to a specialist hospital in Durban by the Air Mercy Aeromedical Helicopter.
The remaining Fifteen patients were stabilized on the scene and transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required. Unfortunately the driver of the light delivery vehicle a male in his forties had sustained Fatal injuries and there was nothing Paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene.
At this stage the events leading up to the crash is unknown however SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.
