Serious truck accident on M4, three injured

MEREBANK – Just after 10:30am on Wednesday morning, ALS Paramedics responded to numerous calls of a serious truck crash with entrapments on the M4 Southern Freeway South Bound near Merebank.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos as they found a Truck lying on its roof with the driver severely entrapped. Immediately Ethekweni Fire Department and Redline Rescue were dispatched to assist. Whilst rescuers worked to cut the patient free whilst Advanced Life Support Paramedics stabilized the man.

Once freed the driver was extricated and placed into an awaiting Ambulance where he was transported to the Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital for further care. Two occupants from the second vehicle had sustained moderate injuries and were stabilized on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Hospital for further care.

At this stage the events leading up to the crash is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
