Pipe leak affects water supply to Letlhabile and Mothotlung, installation of new pump underway
LETHLABILE – A pipe leak occurred again in the Pendoring area hence a water shortage in the areas under the Letlhabile and Mothotlung reservoirs’ supply lines. These areas included Letlhabile, Maboloka, Rabokala, Oskraal, Ga-Rankotea, Mothotlung, parts of Mmakau and Damonsville. Water tankers were dispatched to the affected areas to supply residents with potable water in the interim.
Installation of Letlhabile pump took place late last night at the Brits Water Treatment Plant and the Acting Mayor, Cllr. Khumo Morare was content with the operation and progress.
Acting Mayor Morare witnessed the process of the installation late last night in company of the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Infrastructure & Technical Services (ITS), Cllr. Moses Molekoa, Cllrs-Shanti Moreki (Ward 6), Thamsanqa Mhlanga (Ward 11) and Peter Sedio (Ward 5) as well as the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr. Daniel Masemola and ITS Director, Mr. Ofentse Masilo.
“I am satisfied with what I saw here tonight and very much impressed with the dedication demonstrated by our employees in the installation process. I believe that we are on track to ultimately restore water supply to the people of Letlhabile and Mothotlung after weeks of interruptions and we wish to thank all affected residents for their patience”.
The installation of the pump brings to an end the process of water rationing between Mothotlung and Letlhabile reservoirs which was an interim measure. The maintenance team will work throughout the morning until the installation process is complete and subsequent pumping of water to Letlhabile reservoir can commence.
