A man determined to be devoured by a giant anaconda left the world in shock. In 2014, conservationist Paul Rosolie starred in a controversial experiment for Discovery Channel, in which he volunteered as prey to be swallowed alive in the Amazon rainforest.

Dressed in bite-proof carbon fiber armor and equipped with oxygen, Rosolie approached a nearly 7-foot-long anaconda, getting the reptile to wrap it around and begin swallowing it.

However, the attempt was aborted when she felt unbearable pressure on her body, fearing for her life. The documentary unleashed a wave of criticism for putting the animal to extreme stress and questioned the boundaries between science and show, leaving one of the most shocking scenes ever seen on television.
