Meet Jenny, The Daily Wanderer In The Streets Of Frankfurt

Jenny, a white Arabian mare, has been taking daily walks through the streets of Frankfurt, Germany, for over 15 years. Initially, she was part of a “caravan” with her owner, Werner Weischedel, his wife Anna, and a second mare named Charlie, along with their German shepherd, Evita. However, as Werner grew older and could no longer ride her, Jenny started walking alone.

Jenny’s daily route covers about 15 to 20 kilometers and includes the Fechenheim district, where she often appears on train platforms or in shopping areas. To ensure people understand she is not lost, Jenny wears a note around her neck that reads, “I haven’t run away, I’m just out for a walk. Thank you.”

The locals have grown fond of Jenny and often greet her, pet her, and give her treats. The police are aware of her routine and work with her owner to ensure both Jenny and the community are safe.

In 2020, during the coronavirus lockdown, Jenny became even more popular, bringing smiles to people’s faces and providing a welcome distraction. Jenny was 26 years old when she was put down due to skin cancer in March 2022.
