Two suspects seriously injured in a shootout with officers on the R103

GAUTENG – While patrolling the R554, the Gauteng Traffic Police and Gauteng Traffic Wardens STT (EC) encountered a Hyundai i20 involved in the hijacking of an unmarked state vehicle.

The state vehicle was transporting two suspects en route to a court case at Booysens. A chase ensued from the R554 to the R103, during which the suspects opened fire on the officers. The officers returned fire, leading to the suspect vehicle halting on the R103 with two suspects injured.
