16 Year old stabbed during altercation

RIET RIVER – A 16 year old male was stabbed on the palm of his hand during an altercation on Neptune Drive in Riet River on Saturday afternoon.

RUSA officers received a called for assistance at approximately 15:33. Reaction Officers & RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched and on arrival found the teenager bleeding extensively from a stab wound to his right hand.

He informed Reaction Officers that he was standing in his yard with friends when his neighbour arrived and began assaulting him. The 21 year old suspect then produced a knife and stabbed him on the palm of his hand before fleeing. Details leading up to the incident were not established.

Paramedics stabilised the injured male while Reaction Officers tracked the suspect to his home. He was placed under arrest and the knife used in the attack was recovered in the house. The suspect was detained at SAPS Verulam.
