How 3D-printing Technology Saved This Little Dachshund

Researchers at the University of Guelph have used 3D printing to create a personalized titanium plaque that helped save the life of a little dachshund battling cancer.

Patches, the nine-year-old dachshund at the centre of the procedure, had a brain tumour the size of an orange that grew through her skull and would have been fatal if not treated, her owner said.

After surgery that removed part of his skull, this brave little animal received a tailor-made solution, giving her a new chance at life. This breakthrough not only reflects technological advancements in veterinary medicine but also science’s deep commitment to improving the quality of life for animals.

Patches story proves that, with the right technology, we can give our companions not only hope, but also the chance to heal.
