94% Of The Universe’s Galaxies Are Permanently Unreachable
Even if we traveled at the speed of light, we’d never be able to reach these galaxies. The universe’s expansion is causing galaxies outside the Local Group to move away from us, many now faster than the speed of light.
This means that galaxies beyond 18 billion light-years are forever unreachable, no matter how advanced our technology or how much time passes. As dark energy drives this accelerated expansion, only 6% of the universe’s galaxies will remain within our reach.
Each year, around 160 billion stars in distant galaxies become inaccessible, leaving the Local Group as the only reachable part of the cosmos in the distant future.
