Inventor Harnesses The Power Of Play

Jessica O. Matthews, inventor of Uncharted Play, developed the Socket Ball that converts the kinetic energy generated from playing soccer into stored energy to be used as a power source in communities without grid access.

The ball, which can generate enough energy to power an LED light for three hours with only half an hour of playtime, emerged from her observation in Nigeria about the lack of electricity and the love of football.

Matthews has expanded its inventory with other products like Pulse, a jump rope that also stores energy, and has raised significant funding. Through her enterprise, she has developed technologies like MORE, which integrate energy collection systems into various infrastructures, demonstrating the potential of renewable energy solutions in off-grid communities.
