Homeowner apprehends burglar after robbery

VERULAM – RUSA officers were called out to a property at approximately 22:53 after receiving a tip off that a male that was seen traversing the boundary wall. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival conducted a search of the yard. The homeowner exited the residence with the restrained suspect.

It was established that the burglar utilised a garden tool and attempted to break into a blue Kia Picanto. He entered the home through an unlocked door after he failed to gain entry into the car.

The homeowner woke up and discovered the male in his home. Reaction Officers recovered 4 credit cards belonging to the homeowner, a power bank and keys to the Kia in his possession. The 22 year old suspect was placed under arrest and detained at SAPS Verulam.
