Police confiscate fake goods worth over one million at Joburg mall
GAUTENG – On Thursday, 05 December 2024, a multidisciplinary team of law enforcement agencies conducted a fake goods operation with the aim of destabilising and destruction of illegal trade of illicit and fake goods.
The team comprised of National Counterfeit Unit, Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, Crime Intelligence, JHB Public Order Police, Department of Home Affairs, Brand Protectors, City Deep Border Police, Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens, Commercial Crime, BCI Security and SAPHRA. The operation was conducted in Joburg Mall.
The police seized a total of 20,895 Illicit and fake goods including fake consumables, illicit pharmaceutical products and poison products valued at approximately R1,700,600.
