Foreigners arrested for possession of stolen property and damage to essential infrastructure

GAUTENG – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested six illegal foreigners for possession of suspected stolen property and damage to essential infrastructure at the Eldorado Park Extension 1 power station.

On Monday, 02 December 2024, at approximately 01:00, SAPS members received intelligence-driven information about suspects planning to steal cables from the power station. A team comprising of Eldorado Park Detectives, Crime Prevention, and Crime Prevention Wardens was organized to monitor the situation.

The suspects were spotted in a Toyota Corolla at the robot near the power station. Upon searching the vehicle, a cable worth approximately R250,000 was found in the boot of the vehicle along with instruments allegedly used to commit the crime. The cable was later identified as belonging to Johannesburg City Power.

SAPS Eldorado Park Station Commander, Brigadier Maluleke, commended the swift response and excellent work done by the members.
