Officers intercept and arrest four house robbery / hijacking suspects

ALEXANDRA – A multidisciplinary and intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of four males who are suspected to be involved in a spate of house robberies, house burglaries and car hijackings around Gauteng. The suspects were arrested in Alexandra on Friday, 08 November 2024, and charged with possession of unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property and house robbery. More charges might be added, pending the investigation.

Police received information about suspects who are involved in committing house robberies, house burglaries, and car hijackings around Gauteng. Further information was that the suspects are using a VW Caddy Panel Van as they commit such crimes.

A team comprising of members from South African Police Service, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, CAP Specialized Operations, Tracker Connect, and Badboyz Security was activated to be on the lookout for the suspects.

On Friday, 08 November 2024, the team spotted the suspects’ vehicle in Alexandra, with four occupants. The suspects were intercepted as they entered the shopping mall. A large amount of suspected stolen property that includes jewelry was found in their possession. Suspects were also found with unlicensed firearm and ammunition. All four suspects were arrested.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the same suspects committed a house robbery in Norwood on 07 November 2024, where the victims were severely assaulted and suspects made off with valuable items from the house. The suspects are expected to appear before Alexandra Magistrate Courts on Monday, 11 November 2024.
