JMPD arrest drug dealer with ‘Kat’ worth R150,000
GAUTENG – Whilst conducting patrols along Ontdekkers Road in Florida, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit officers intercepted a suspicious silver Toyota Yaris. The vehicle displayed a permit in the rear window, prompting further investigation.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers requested identification from the sole male occupant. A discrepancy was noted between the suspect’s appearance and the provided documents, leading to a more thorough search of the vehicle.
During the search, officers discovered R570 in cash. Approximately 1 kilogram of a white powdery substance suspected to be a drug known as Kat, with an estimated street value of R150,000.
The suspect attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by officers. He was arrested and detained at Florida SAPS. The suspect is facing charges of possession of drugs and producing fraudulent documents. The JMPD remains committed to combating crime and ensuring the safety of our communities.
