Five year old used in robbery tactic

TRENANCE PARK – A Robbery suspect used a five year old child to lure a seventy eight (78) year old victim & then robbed her of gold bangles. RUSA received the call for assistance from a resident on Madrona Drive.

Paramedics & Reaction Officers arrived on scene & interviewed the grandmother who explained that while she was conducting chores on her property, a male known to her as a local drug user called out to her from her neighbors yard. The man pointed to a female child that was now on her property & asked that the child be passed over the fence.

The victim added that she was uncertain as to how the child had got into her yard, but walked over and passed the the girl over the fence. At that stage, the suspect grabbed her hand and forcefully removed her gold bangles & fled. The woman suffered injuries to her arms & hand.

When Reaction Officers canvassed the area, it was established that the suspect was known. He had entered the victims neighbors yard, where he regularly visits. At some stage he carried the child and placed her over the fence into the victims yard to lure her. The man is a habitual criminal. Reaction Officers are tracking the suspect.
