The Prehistoric Monster who once dominated the oceans

The Megalodon shark was a massive prehistoric shark that lived in the oceans thousands of years ago. Compared to humans, the Megalodon reached staggering sizes that far surpassed those of the modern Great White Shark. While an average human stands about 175cm tall, it’s estimated that the Megalodon could reach lengths of 15m – 18m, although some estimates even suggest lengths of up to 20m.

The teeth of the Megalodon were particularly notable and one of its most impressive features. These could exceed 18cm in length and had a broad, triangular shape, perfect for tearing through the thick skin and flesh of its large prey like whales. In contrast, human teeth are tiny and designed for a completely different type of diet.

The sheer size of the Megalodon places it in an entirely different dimension compared to humans, both in terms of physical presence and its role in the ecosystem of the prehistoric ocean. While humans are apex predators on land, the Megalodon dominated marine systems, holding the top spot in the food chain.
