It’s BIG! – The leg of Sauropod Argentinosaurus

Really goes to show just how large these dinosaurs could get! Argentinosaurus (meaning “Argentine lizard”) is a genus of titanosaur sauropod dinosaur first discovered by Guillermo Heredia in Argentina.

The generic name refers to the country in which it was discovered. The dinosaur lived on the then-island continent of South America somewhere during the Late Cretaceous Period. It is among the largest known dinosaurs. When this animal was alive, it may have weighed up to 100 tonnes and must have been one of the truly impressive sights of prehistory.
