Fuel prices to ease ‘again’ in September

SOUTH AFRICA – Motorists can expect more relief at the pumps from Wednesday. The Department of Energy on Monday announced a drop in fuel prices for September 2024. This is the fourth consecutive month that petrol and diesel prices will decrease.

Both grades of petrol will decrease by 92 cents per litre, while diesel will decrease by 79 cents and R1,05 cents per litre, and illuminating paraffin by R1,38 cents per litre. LP Gas will go down by 10c per kilogram.

The department’s spokesperson, Robert Maake, says the decrease is due to the lower oil prices and stronger rand. “The slate levy remains unchanged at 0c per litre on both petrol and diesel. This is the fourth month in succession that the fuel price has dropped. The prices of petrol have dropped by about R3,44c a litre over the period.”
