Raise a glass to the Legend of Amarula

SOUTH AFRICA – The South African Master Blender, Jack Thirion, and creator of the World Famous Amarula liqueur has died at the age of 86 after a short sick bed. Way back in 1983, Amarula was first introduced as a fruit spirit liqueur, the first version of which was not so popular with Mzansi.

However, Thirion recreated the liqueur with a cream base that is marketed on our shelves today as the ever-popular Amarula Cream. Enjoyed by the fire, in the bush or on the beachfront, it’s a timeless classic. Jack Thirion was also responsible for other proudly South African products such as Rooibos Digestive Snaps, San Marco Sambucca and Eine Kleine Nachtmusiek. Rest in peace Mr. Amarula.
