Skydiving: How to replant the Amazon rainforest
In 2022, skydiver Luigi Cani took on one of the most crucial missions of his life, releasing 100 million seeds from 27 native plant species into a deforested area of the Amazon. From a biodegradable wooden box weighing over 300 kg and measuring more than 1m³, Luigi dived at an astonishing speed of 300 km/h!
Not only did he make this groundbreaking environmental contribution, but he also held the world record for the shortest parachute jump on the planet in 2020. With a germination rate of over 95%, these seeds will flourish without any human intervention, bringing hope and life back to the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
