Fifteen AK-47 wielding robbers storm shopping center

PHOENIX – Several response vehicles, a police vehicle & buildings were damaged by fifteen (15) suspects who opened fire with high calibre rifles after robbing a jewellery store. A Security Officer was deprived of his firearm and a policeman & a civilian were shot by the suspects during a robbery at the Phoenix Plaza.

Reaction Unit South Africa received the initial call for assistance from a Community Policing Forum (CPF) member reporting a possible Armed Robbery In progress. Reaction Officers converged onto the scene and immediately came under attack. Several private Security Response Officers & Police Officers swiftly responded to the scene & came under fire.

A car chase & a gun battle ensued & the heavily armed suspects manged to evade arrest after shooting a civilian & a Police Officer. Three (3) getaway vehicles were used by the robbers. The case is being investigated.
