BREAKING NEWS: Senior municipal official and her partner appear before court for corruption charges
GANYESA – The two suspects, Morufa Moloto (37) female and Letladi Emmanuel Ramoroka (39) male made their first appearance in Ganyesa Court facing allegations of corruption. The female suspect is a senior municipal official based at Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality. The duo was arrested on Friday 19 July, by the Hawks following allegations of corruption.
It is alleged that the duo were involved in corruption in awarding of a tender to supply and deliver eight laptops for the Kagisano Local Municipality in Ganyesa. The state alleges that the female official (37) year old, awarded her alleged partner’s company Thatsofaso Trading and Projects ,a tender of R185,000 to supply and deliver laptops.
Furthermore, the state alleges that the tender was awarded to a bidder with the highest quotation to other bidders. A payment of R185, 000 was allegedly paid to Thatsofaso Trading and Projects, partner’s company. The state alleges that he illicitly transfered the amount of R150, 000 to Onalerona Consulting a company belonging to his partner who’s the municipal official.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, in North West, Dr Rachel Makhari welcomed the arrest and lauded the prosecutor and investigating officer for securing the suspect’s court appearance. The matter has been adjourned to 28 August 2024 for further investigation. Both accused are granted bail of R15, 000 each.
