Vehicle gutted in fire on highway

WATERLOO – A Nissan NP200 bakkie was gutted after it burst into flames on the M27 in the vicinity of Waterloo. Reaction officers arrived on scene at approximately 16:39 and discovered the vehicle engulfed in flames.

According to the driver, he was travelling from Umdloti to Waterloo when he noticed smoke emanating from the engine compartment. The bakkie burst into flames when he stopped to investigate. The fire was extinguished by firefighters who arrived shortly thereafter.
