Madibeng mayor visits old age home for Mandela day

MMAKAU – On 18 July 2024, in commemoration of Mandela Day, Executive Mayor Douglas Maimane visited and made donations to Ke Matla Old Age Home in Mmakau.

The office of the Executive Mayor donated mattresses, blankets, food parcels and cleaning supplies to the old age home. Cableway was also present with their own donations.

Mayor Maimane reminded everyone of Mandela’s example to us and the importance of doing for others. The Mayor handed over the donation as well as goodie bags to each resident.

Ke Matla Old Age Home opened its doors in 2016. The facility is run by its founder, Mme Dorothy Mngomezulu with the assistance of her daughter, Mme Magdalene Kungwane, a retired nursing sister.

Mme Mngomezulu expressed gratitude for the donations and the day’s events, saying, “This day is a miracle. I’ve never seen something like this since we started this centre. God has done something great for us. It shows me that I should continue with this important work.”
