Blind juvenile Vervet monkey rescued
BRINDHAVEN – A blind juvenile monkey was rescued from a property in Brindhaven. Reaction officers received a call from a resident from Larkspur Drive requesting assistance for the male Vervet monkey that was abandoned by his troop. A officers was dispatched to the resident and the monkey was safely caught and transported to RUSA HQ.
Lindy Elmes, a volunteer from Monkey Helpline uplifted the monkey a short while ago this afternoon. It is believed that the monkey’s hands were contaminated with poison which resulted in blindness when he touched his eyes. The monkey is being transported to a Veterinarian for medical attention.
