Joburg water maintenance will see supply reduced by half
GAUTENG – Johannesburg Water will reduce water supply by 50% at all reservoirs due to Rand Water’s ongoing infrastructure maintenance project. The city warned that some residents could have little or no water as a result.
Johannesburg Water’s spokesperson, Nombuso Shabalala says the utility will provide stationary tankers in critical areas like hospitals, clinics, municipal offices, schools and police stations. Shabalala says there will also be tankers across the affected suburbs. Work at the Eikenhof pump station will affect Randburg, Roodepoort, Soweto, Joburg Central, Brixton, Hursthill and Crosby.
The Zwartkopjes pump station maintenance will affect Berea, Parktown, Hector Norris, Forrest Hill, Eagles Nest, Alan Manor, Naturena, Crown Gardens, Aeroton and Orlando East, while the Daleside booster station will affect Orange Farm, Lawley and Ennerdale.
