Operation leads to arrest, discovery of explosives

BRITS – The “Vala Umgodi” operation continues to fight illicit mining. This became evident when two suspects were arrested on Friday evening, 24 May 2024. Information received led a team from Johannesburg Tactical Response Team (TRT) to Mooinooi, where it was alleged that explosives are being sold on the R556 Road, close to Segwaelane Village.

Two suspects, aged 35 and 53 were arrested, after detonating cord and detonators were found in their possession. They will be appearing before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 27 May 2024, for illegal possession and supply of explosives.
