13-Year-old abused by father for 11 years, mother shields suspect

TRENANCE PARK – The RUSA Operations Center received information on Sunday morning that a biological father was abusing his 13-year-old son since the child was 2-years-old. The informer then sent mutiple images and added that the child’s stepmother was shielding the perpetrator. Further information was received that the childs mother had passed on in a unknown country in Africa.

Reaction Officers began tracking the father & identified his residence near Trenance Park in Kwazulu Natal. When the home was approached, a woman identified herself as the child’s biological mother. She produced identification & a birth certificate confirming that she was the birth mother. She futher informed Reaction Officers that the family was from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe and had moved to South Africa in 2015.

When Reaction Officers enquired regarding the whereabouts of her husband, the woman explained that he had fled the area after social workers had visited the home. The mother explained that the child was beaten by the father in an attempt to discipline him. During the conversation, Reaction Officers found that the mother offered an explanation on behalf of the father regarding the ongoing abuse. She repeatedly blamed the child and denied knowledge regarding the whereabouts of the father.

The mother advised Officers that the child was sent to live with relatives when news of the abuse surfaced. The child was enrolled at a primary school in KZN (name of institution withheld) but had frequently been absent due to injuries he suffered.
