A shadow of it’s former glory
DURBAN – Shocking as what the main road leading up to Durban’s Beachfront which was previously full of tourist shops, famous food franchises, curio shops and surf shops are now turned into a ‘Mini Lagos.’ This was captured by a very concerned community member who documented the deterioration of this once bustling road in Durban CBD.
Allegedly Nigerian owned shebeens, Nigerian owned hair salons including some of these previously busy shops, have now been converted to ‘quick’ rooms which can be rented for 1 hour at a time, mostly reserved for prostitution.
Pakistan nationals who own spaza shops in the area with the most pungent smell of urine around the shops and streets has a nauseating effect on passerbys. It looks like a scene from some war torn country but, this is the state of once the best tourist destinations in South Africa.
