Two woman killed in horrific taxi crash

OTTAWA – Two (2) woman were killed and several occupants of a mini bus taxi were injured in a collision on Old Main Road in Ottawa a short while ago.

The Reaction Unit South Africa Operations Centre received multiple calls for assistance from passing motorists. Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 08:24.

The bodies of the females were discovered in the mini bus. Fifteen (15) other individuals including the driver of the white Toyota Quantum were lying on the side of the road. An extensively damaged silver Ford Everest was located approximately 70 metres away. The driver was the only occupant and managed to free himself from the wreckage.

A passenger in the mini bus informed Reaction Officers that the driver was overtaking a vehicle when it collided into the Ford Everest that was proceeding in the opposite direction. A six (6) month pregnant female was amongst the injured. Thank you to all emergency teams on scene!
