Week of crime fighting nets good results
GAUTENG – In the past week, SAPS Rapid Response Services comprising of Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested a total of 94 suspects, recovered 38 motor vehicles and 13 firearms.
Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 38 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, murder, house breaking, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, business burglary, tampering with essential infrastructure, armed robbery, money laundering and kidnapping.
A total of 38 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 19 arrests for the possession of these vehicles. A further 13 unlicensed firearms were recovered with one arrest.
In further policing 36 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cocaine, mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among the drugs confiscated in these separate incidents. Investigation continues in these cases. The suspects will be appearing in the local Magistrate’s Courts across Gauteng.
