Cape Town was a vibe of accidents on Friday
CAPE TOWN – The town was buzzing on Saturday night with revellers making use of the balmy weather to enjoy the CBD vibe. CCID Safety & Security night manager Edward Edwardes reports that “we had a very busy night with lots of young people out and about in the city centre, and Bree St was especially busy.”
Edwardes says after the restaurants closed their doors at 23h00 the nigh-club patrons stayed on party the night away. Edwardes attended to a theft out of a motor vehicle near the Artscape Theatre Centre and an attempted theft our of a motor vehicle in Machau St. He was kept busy throughout the night responding to three motor vehicle accidents in town.
“The first accident took place on the corner of Christian Barnard St and F.W. de Klerk Ave when a vehicle allegedly failed to stop at a red traffic light. “Fortunately there were no injuries and the Traffic department was at the scene.” The second accident took place on the corner of Buitengracht St and Walter Sisulu Ave, and there were also no injuries.
“The third accident on the corner of Lower Long St and Hans Strydom Ave also took place when a driver allegedly skipped the red traffic light and collided with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. There were also lots of vehicles that needed assistance with flat batteries,” he reports.
