Love triangle attack, suspect arrested

WATERLOO – A 46-year-old man has been arrested at the Reaction Unit South Africa Headquarters after evading arrest by Law Enforcement for a month.

The complainant, a carpenter residing within the Ethekweni District approached the RUSA Operations Center fearing for his life. In an interview he informed Reaction Officers that he was approached by a golf cart technician at a local supermarket in Waterloo and was questioned regarding a female. It was established that the female was dating both men at the same time.

The complainant was then assaulted repeatedly. When the injured victim used his mobile phone to call an E-hailing services to transport him to the police. He was again assaulted and his mobile phone taken by the suspect.

The victim eventually opened a criminal case of Theft & Assault GBH but the suspect evaded arrest for weeks and continued to intimidate the complainant. Believing his life was in danger, the victim arrived at the RUSA Offices seeking assistance.

Reaction Officers requested a Pointing Out Note from the SAPS Detectives and when it was received, the suspect was lured to the RUSA Headquarters and arrested without incident. He is currently in detention.
