Eight suspects accused for kidnapping of Brits cousins

BRITS – The seven accused arrested by a multi-disciplinary team comprising of Provincial Organised Crime, Head Office Crime Intelligence, Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2 Task Team and Brits Crime Intelligence in connection with the kidnapping of the cousins; Zahraa Mohammed (17) and Bataviya Mohammed (19), appeared in court on Monday, 8 and Tuesday, 9 April 2024.

They were all remanded in custody until 16 April 2024, for formal bail application. The accused; Humphrey Martin (48), Nathaniel Mokwena (41), Sendry Phage (58), Virgilo Hlongwane (33), Nkanyiso Hadebe (25), Boitumelo Bogatsu (44), Thuloane Makume (47).

Meanwhile, the team arrested a 50-year-old man on Tuesday, 9 Tuesday 2024, in Brits. According to information, the suspect is the owner of the house where the victims were kept. This brings a number of arrested suspects to eight. The suspect is expected to appear before the Brits Magistrates’ Court today .
