Car guard arrested for burglary

VERULAM – A 38-year-old man operating as a car guard at the Verulam Licence Test Centre on Jabu Ngcobo Road in was arrested for burglary on Sunday.

The known Heroin addict was in the process of breaking into a home on Ireland Street when he was spotted by a member of the community who called out for assistance.

A member of Reaction Unit South Africa was in the vicinity and noticed the suspect fleeing over the boundary wall. The Officer called for additional backup while he pursued the suspect on foot. The man was apprehended a short distance away.

Reaction Officers established that the suspect is a car guard. He was previously arrested by RUSA Members for a case of burglary and theft in Tongaat. He is a known drug addict and a habitual criminal. He was placed under arrest and detained at SAPS Verulam.
