Reaction Units with SAPS squads pounce on criminals

MADIBENG – One month ago in February 2024, there was an ATM bombing at one of the local garages close to Lethlabile. Three (3) weeks later, there was another armed robbery at same garage whereby the suspects took the hand radio from the security.

On Monday 18 March 2024, the radio all of a sudden switched on in the Mogwase area close to Rustenburg past 23h00.

Secure Guarding control room monitored the radio as the suspect was moving around the garages in that area. Later on, the suspects switched off the radio again.

On 21 March 2024 at 16:00, the radio again came online in Rustenburg area and stayed on in
Sereleng informal settlement close to Boitekong.

Secure Guarding TRT team was informed of the whereabouts of the said radio at a certain house in the area. Reaction units immediately dispatched from Brits to Rustenburg and met up with the SAPS intelligence members and Flying squad.

They then proceeded to the area where the suspects were last tracked. After an intensive search of the area the suspect fled before they could pounce on them as they noticed the teams.

The radio was later discovered in a nearby house with many other items robbed from various businesses in the Mogwase area as well this week.

Scene was handed over to Saps Flying squad and lCRC teams. Thanks to Rustenburg Flying squad with the K9 unit and Rustenburg CIG members for assisting during operations.
