Mayonnaise crash causes heavy traffic disruptions
GAUTENG – The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) have urged motorists to use alternative routes following dealys on the R21 North at Pomona onramp. A truck lost its load of mayonnaise during a crash on Monday.
The spilled mayonnaise prompted public looting on the highway. EMPD spokesperson Mari Mashishi says only one lane was open on the R21 North at Pomona, while the onramp was still closed at the time of clean-up. SANRAL took up to four to five hours (11am) to clear the highway and let traffic flow continue as normal.
