Six (6) people injured after intoxicated taxi driver crashes

REDCLIFFE – Six (6) people were injured after a mini bus taxi collided into a bakkie and a concrete fence on Buffelsdraai Road in Redcliffe on Saturday morning.

A passerby contacted Reaction Unit South Africa at approximately 07:04 requesting assistance at the scene. Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival discovered a white Toyota Quantum and a white Fiat Strada bakkie involved in the collision. A concrete fence was also damaged.

Six occupants of the taxi were injured. They were stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital by a private ambulance service.

The driver of the mini bus was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was handed over to Metro Policemen for further investigation. Circumstances leading up to the crash were unclear.
