Driver killed in horror R511 collision

BRITS – The collision occurred Saturday on the R511 Thabazimbi road near Atlanta, where a truck and bakkie collided with significant force, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Upon impact, the driver of the bakkie became trapped inside the mangled wreckage, necessitating the urgent intervention of rescue teams.

H.E.M.S and Station 21 Fire and Rescue swiftly arrived at the scene. Utilizing hydraulic equipment and techniques, Station 21 Firefighters worked meticulously to carefully extract the driver from the wreckage, all while navigating the precarious conditions of the accident site.

Despite the valiant efforts of the rescue teams, tragically, the driver of the bakkie succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at hospital. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time, and we extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by this heartbreaking event.

The occupant of the truck involved in the collision sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
