A Sad Day as villagers feast on elephant after escaping Kruger Park

MPUMALANGA – Wielding pangas, chainsaws and knives, residents of a village in Mpumalanga slaughtered an elephant that was shot dead after escaping from the Kruger National Park.
An elephant that escaped the Kruger National Park into Matsulu yesterday, February 10, had to be euthanised by the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency after several community members had allegedly chased after it and threw objects at it.
Confirmed reports states that the residents of Matsulu feasted on the elephant that was killed by Parks Agency. Immediately after villagers heared that the elephant was killed, people could be seen gathering in their masses to cut up and skin the animal.
Community members were concerned for their safety, and said the elephants ruined their property with other residents threatening to strike and close the roads in the area if the issue was not resolved quickly.
