Suspects arrested for possession of hijacked truck

PORT ELIZABETH – Quick activation of information by members of SAPS Kabega Park, Gqeberha Flying Squad and a private security company led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of a hijacked truck in Greenbushes on Friday afternoon.

It is alleged that at approximately 12:45, on the abovementioned date, the driver of a white Isuzu Truck was stationary at the corners of Old Cape and Mission Roads, Greensbushes, waiting the enter the traffic. Two suspects approached the passenger side, one suspect armed approached the driver and pulled him out of the truck and also forced the passenger, where after the suspects drove off with the truck.

After the incident was reported, the members patrolled the area in Greenbushes and Rocklands and spotted the truck and with the assistance of Gqeberha Flying Squad and a private security company, they successfully apprehended two suspects and recovered the truck.

The hijacked truck was impounded for further investigation. The suspects aged 29 and 36 were detained on charges of hijacking. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will appear in the Gqeberha magistrate court on Monday, 29 January 2024.
