Hundreds displaced during flash floods
DURBAN – Hundreds of residents were displaced during flash floods that resulted from heavy downpours over the North Coast on Saturday afternoon.
Reaction Unit South Africa Operation Centres in Phoenix, Verulam & Tongaat became inundated with flood related call-outs from 21:54 to 01:30. Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics rescued dozens of residents from flooded homes.
Several vehicles experienced mechanical failure after motorists attempted crossing flooded roads. Roads and bridges leading to several areas were damaged.
