Exodus of the undocumented
LIMPOPO – Hundreds of foreigners without documentation have been blocked at the Beitbridge border from entering South Africa already this new year.
Illegal immigration and smuggling of illegal goods remain a serious concern at the Beitbridge border with Zimbabwe. However, security has been tightened this holiday season, particularly for those returning to South Africa. Over 25,000 people have passed through the post legally so far this week.
The Commissioner of Border Management Authority, Dr Mike Masiapata is at the Beitbridge border at the North Gate where over 200 people have been blocked trying to enter South Africa without the required documents.
