Safer festive season inspection tour
SOUTH AFRICA – The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele together with the Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Cassel Mathale are leading a delegation of police officers at the Free State leg of the Ministry of Police countrywide tour to assess SAPS operations during this busy festive season.
Since the start of the festive season operations in Free State more than 6000 suspects have been arrested for various crimes ranging from stock theft, rape and murder.
The delegation is also joined by the MEC of Transport and community safety in FS Maqueen Mathae where they are engaging communities in Ladybrand and are assessing the roadworthiness of long-distance taxi’s which are transporting communities in and around Free State.
The Ministry together with the SAPS management team from national and the province, led by National Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola and the Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Baile Motswenyane will assess the effectiveness of the SAPS’ Safer Festive Season operational plans put in place, to ensure the well-being and safety of all residents and tourists in the country, during the holiday period.
