Fleeing man drowns at excavation site

TONGAAT – A man who was being pursed and assaulted by four (4) males drowned while attempting to flee in Ogunjini on Sunday morning.

A resident contacted Reaction Unit South Africa at approximately 09:32 and reported the incident. Reaction Officers & RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched. On arrival, RUSA Members discovered the public searching for the body in an excavation site that filled with rain water. The drowned victim was located by a member of the public shortly thereafter.

A witness informed Reaction Officers that the deceased was being pursued by four (4) males. The men caught up and began assaulting him. He fled into the bridge construction site and attempted to swim away from his attackers but drowned. The four (4) men thereafter fled. Details as to why he was being pursued could not be confirmed.
